Static stretching (holding a pose for a few seconds) shouldn’t be done before a workout as research says that it reduces strength during your workout which can comprise you lifting heavier, instead you should prefer to do dynamic stretches, preferably for the exercise you’re about to perform.

For example, why do bodyweight squats and lunges before chest day as dynamic stretches, instead use push ups for it.
